How can you help hunger related ministries:

  1. Please pray for those across our state and beyond who are experiencing food insecurities at this time.  Pray that God would meet their needs, provide comfort in uncertainty, and open doors for local churches and ministries to be His hands and feet in this season.  Please also pray for those serving in food ministries, pantries, and community outreach efforts across Missouri as they respond to increased needs with compassion and faith.
  2. If your church has a hunger-related ministry, please see how you can be involved.
  3. Contact your association to see if they have, or are aware of, associational churches that have hunger-related ministries where you could give or volunteer. 
  4. Give to the MBC Hunger Relief Network.  Gifts to the network go to fund hunger-related ministries across the state. www.mobaptist.org/hunger

The Network

The MBC Hunger Relief Network is a group of hunger relief ministries operated by cooperating Missouri Baptist churches, associations, mission partners and other agencies.

The Need

Recent studies indicate 1 in 8 Missourians is food insecure.  The US Department of Agriculture defines food insecurity using two levels:

  • Low food security (old label=Food insecurity without hunger): reports of reduced quality, variety, or desirability of diet. Little or no indication of reduced food intake.
  • Very low food security (old label=Food insecurity with hunger): reports of multiple indications of disrupted eating patterns and reduced food intake.

Missouri Baptists provide resources for church, association, and some special events to reduce food insecurity in Missouri.

100% of your gifts to the Hunger Relief Network reduces food insecurity: 20% stays in Missouri while 80% goes to international causes.
