Mission Opportunities in Missouri
Forest Avenue Family Shelter, Kansas City
The shelter always has needs for a meal and a message in the evenings in the Forest Avenue Family Shelter (forestavenuefamilyshelter.org) They are also in need of help with work projects, painting, cleaning etc. Their Extreme Missions Makeover ministry needs rehab workers to help with construction, plumbers, electric, heating and cooling. The church would like to have help in building a small tin roof over the alley which would provide a play room for the children in the shelter. There are two lots which need dirt moved and graded so that they can have a much needed parking lot. There is a need for outside painting on their building. Groups can do a one day event or longer. The Church needs help with prayer walks and canvassing. They have student and mission team housing in the Urban Missions Training Center. They can also use help in the soup kitchen with cooking. They could use help from stay at home moms who know how to do grant writing or have a desire to learn. For more information, check out their website athttp://forestavenuefamilyshelter.org/, contact the Shelter at 816-753-4753 or Director Ken Smith, at 816-213-5911 (H).
Global Encounter Project
The Global Encounter Project is an entry level mission trip for Junior High, High School and University age students. This is an eight day trip where we train and equip through conference training which is immediately followed up by on-the-field training. We have a three-fold purpose for these endeavors: One, to see lost people come to Christ; two, to see struggling inner-city churches encouraged; and three, to train the next generation to effectively and relatively build the church for generations to come.
The project is going to be in three locations in 2013:
- St. Louis Project will be July 11-18, 2014
- Kansas City Project will be July 18-25, 2014
- Denver, CO Project will be July 25 – Aug. 1, 2014

Mozark is currently utilizing an historic building which is in need of some electric upgrades. They have purchased materials to complete this project but are in need of someone with the technical knowledge to safely complete the project. There is a need for assistance in painting and grounds work….minor landscape work. They would like to have a metal roof put on the building but are still working on raising enough funds to complete this project.
Mozark is doing good things in the community with Celebrate Recovery. This community has a great need for this program and the response has been very positive. Mozark is a very small church with a typical attendance on Sunday of 18-24 people. They have helped many people in the community which is their focus as a mission church. As an example, for Valentine’s Day they put together 10 Valentine boxes for needy families in the community. Their goal is to utilize missions in many different ways to help spread God’s Word.
Kevin Miller is the Pastor at Mozark. He is a bi-vocational pastor who teaches at Cassville Middle School and owns/operates a small cattle farm. You may reach him at 417-342-0468 (H).
Hallsville Baptist Church
The majority of the work on Hallsville Baptist Church’s new building has been completed. There is one project that still needs to be done. The gym floor needs to be coated with a rubberized paint. The church will furnish the paint and they would like to have someone help them who has experience with this type of paint. If this is something you could do, please contact them by phone or e-mail.
Hallsville Baptist Church is a member of the Crossroads Baptist Association and is located approximately 16 miles north of Columbia. For more information, contact Dr. Jensen Petersen, Senior Pastor, at 573-696-3621 email@example.com.
St. Francois Baptist Association
We have a need for cabin leaders, counselors during our summer camp program of 2014, July 6-11 for Youth Camp and July 13-18 for the Children’s Camp. The two Sundays of July 6 and 13 are registration days beginning at 4:00 p.m. Also we have a pre-campers one-day program on Saturday, July 12 and it would be helpful to have someone for this as well. That camp usually runs 10:00-3:00 on Saturday.
Also an electrician would be very helpful to help with wiring on our chapel, and one of our pavilions. Other physical needs for the camp are the need for additional recreation facilities such as horseshoe pit and a Gaga pit (enclosed pit for dodge ball). We are also interested in getting a low-ropes course built. If anyone out there has information and instruction on how to construct a low ropes course, we would greatly appreciate this help.
