EAST COAST STorm Recovery
Dear fellow Missouri Baptists,
I’m writing to ask you to support Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief efforts in anticipation of Hurricane Matthew making landfall on the East Coast in the coming days. As I write, MBC DR Strategist Dwain Carter is coordinating a large-scale disaster-relief effort among Missouri Baptist volunteers to assist fellow Southern Baptist DR teams in that part of our country.
Florida has asked Southern Baptists to prepare up to 300,000 meals each day — a huge challenge, and a great gospel/missional opportunity.
Please pray for Dwain, our volunteers, and for the victims of the hurricane, many of whom need to hear the gospel. If you can volunteer to be part of a relief team, visit Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief on Facebook to learn more, or visit the MBC DR webpages.
Equally important, I urge you to give generously to the disaster-relief effort. Click here to give online. Or send your check to the Missouri Baptist Convention and designate it “Disaster Relief.”
We also just introduced a new text-to-give feature, where you may donate from your smart phone or other mobile device. Just text “Give” to 573.433.8286 and follow the prompts.
You may also want to give a “Disaster Relief” designated gift through your local church. The 1800 MBC churches serve together to transform lives and communities with the gospel through vital ministries like MBC Disaster Relief. Your church would then forward your gift, and gifts from other church members, to the MBC.
This threatens to be a monster storm that will cause widespread devastation. Please pray, go if you’re able, and give generously to the work of Missouri Baptists as they minister to victims along the eastern seaboard. Thanks for supporting our DR efforts.
Missouri Baptists are on the ground on the East Coast, in areas where flooding has taken lives and destroyed homes. As teams continue to be sent out to affected areas, you can help. Here’s how:
Pray for the victims, and for those ministering to them. Watch the Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief Facebook page for up to date prayer needs.
Give to the disaster relief efforts of the Missouri Baptist Convention. Giving through Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief ensures that 100% of the funds collected will go directly to Disaster Relief within the affected areas.
Go. MBC’s disaster relief specialists are sending teams to help with recovery. You may be able to join one of those teams. Contact Dwain Carter for more information.
This page will be updated as new information is made available.
